Harrison Bergerson
In the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., which takes place in the United States during the year 2081. It tells the story of Harrison Bergeron, who is 14 year old boy who is forced to be handicapped, by the handycappergeneral (HCG) who wants to change the rules of society in America. He must fight against Diana Moon Glampers, the leader of the Handicapped General, in order to get to this goal. First, Harrison is captured and taken away from his parents, George and Hazel Bergeron. Hazel is dumb, so she is does not have to wear anything to make her more handicapped. George her husbend is super intelligent, so he wears a transmitter in his ear, that plays a loud noise in his ear every twenty seconds and he has to have a forty pound sack of lead balls tied to his neck so he is not as strong. The couple watches a ballet with people wearing ugly masks and weights. They are not able to think about their son and don’t even realize he is missing. All of a sudden, there is an announcement that Harrison escaped prison. A picture I shown on the screen. Right away George recognized his son nut quickly forgets because of the transmitter. Then, Harrison appears at the studio were the ballet is happening. He claims that he is the Emperor and that all of the laws of the US are banished. He tells the ballerinas that the first woman to stand up will be his Empress or wife. One stands up and he takes all of the items forcing her to be handicap off. They dance together but are soon interrupted when Diana Moon Glampers walks into the studio. She shoots both of them and they fall to the floor dead. Hazel Bergeron starts to cry as she watches her son die, but soon forgets as well as her husband.
