1.Who is responsible for Coyotito's death? Why?
I believe that Juana is responsible for Coyotito’s death, because at the end of chapter 4 they were going to leave Coyotito with Juan Tomas (Kino’s brother) but Juana was very very very persistent, on bering Coyotito with her to the capital. In this sense i believe that is Coyotito has stayed with Juan Tomas, he might still be alive. This why i think Juana is responsible for Coyotito’s death
2.Should Kino have thrown the pearl back in the ocean? Why?
I believe that Kino did the right thingy when he threw the pearl back into the ocean, because in the last seen of the book, Kino looks at the pearl, and it just looked gray and ulcers, because of all of the harm and pain that the pearl had caused to him, and all of his family. I think it was the right reason because the pearl, cost him his son.
3.Why is the story called the Gift of the Magi?
The short story we read is called The Gift of the Magi because they are comparing Jim and Della, too the first people who ever did the now tradition of gift giving. These people were the three wise men who gave baby Jesus his first three gifts, as a baby. So in conclusion this story was called the gift of the magi because O’Henry was comparing Jim and Della to the three wise men, or “The Magi”
4.What is the deeper meaning of the short story “The Gift of the Magi”?
First of all, i believe that this is a matter of opinion. But anyway I believe that the deeper meaning of The Gift of the Magi is that what you get a person, doesn’t matter, what matters is the intention of the gift, like who the gift is going too, and also why you are giving this person a gift. This is what i thing is the deeper meaning of The Gift of the Magi By O’Henry.
